The Dog of War

He is a little ball of energy and a total attention whore. He follows my mother everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. His new thing is stealing whatever pieces of clothing he finds in my room, takes them to a corner inside the laundry room and takes a nap on top of them. I don’t know what is so appealing about my clothes that he feels moved to steal them and sleep on them, but it’s getting annoying. I no longer ask my mom for where my sock or my shorts are; I just go straight to the corner and get them myself. At least it’s better than his previous habit of pooping in front of my door whenever I was home!
Raven: Fishy Extraordinaire
It is no secret among my friends that I LOVE animals. I had my first pet when I was about 6 years old. His name was Lolo and he was a German Shepherd. I loved that dog so much, but unfortunately we lived in a second story apartment and our then landlord asked my mom to get rid of the dog. I still remember the day my mom made me say goodbye to my beloved friend. He was given away to a family friend and I was able to visit the dog every now and then. Six years after Lolo was given away I was given a Dalmatian named Topeka, which I kept at my grandma’s house. The poor doggie died when she was only 3 months old due to a heart worm. After losing two dogs I decided I would move on to pets I could keep at home and which I wouldn’t get so attached to. That’s when I decided I’d rather have pet fish instead.
Being the wuss that I am when it comes to pets, I still grew attached to my pet fish! I had about 7 different ones (Comet, Ojón, Popular, Chinita…) for about 6 years. They survived one broken fish tank, 2 hurricanes, 2 tropical storms, 3 house moves, and 2 cat attacks. They were brave soldiers who never gave up on me, not even when I didn’t clean their home for 3 months or when I accidentally dropped them out of a water bucket. One by one they died and one by one they were cried over and buried. I said I am a wuss, didn’t I?
Well, about 2 years ago my mom gave me my pet cockatiel Emma. I love her to bits (Ivy can vouch for me) but due to her being an attention whore, my mom keeps her at home while I study here in Mayagüez. I have a pet, but at the same time I don’t! So, 5 Días con Nuestra Tierra, a week-long fair that takes place on campus provided me with the perfect solution to my pet necessities. They have a wide variety of pets for sale, and Beta fishies were there by the bucket! So, I looked at all the available ones and after bugging Benji and Ivy for about 10 minutes, I settled on this one:

Fishy! Fishy! Fishy! Teen Titans’ Raven
Raven! The fishy was named Raven thanks to Ivy pointing out that it has the same color scheme as the Teen Titans character of the same name. Being a fan of the show and an even bigger fan of the character made the name a perfect fitting for my new pet.
A new pet is added to the family!
